It doesn’t get much more independent than this. Unity Day is essentially a community project, run entirely by volunteers. Financed by a set of fundraiser gigs leading up to the event, Unity Day stands out as an inspired project, loved by those who created it. Covering the whole musical spectrum, from ska to ‘filthy bassline sleaze’ (their words not mine), this seems to have something for everyone. With eight to ten separate stages, the exact line-up is still unconfirmed, but will likely be made up of those who have played their fundraisers. A point of interest to local bands, this festival seems very willing to accommodate you. No money involved of course but the chance to play an event like this should be grabbed with both hands.

Details are still thin on the ground so keep an eye out for this one closer to the time. It’s a DIY gem that more should know about.
